Worship Service

More Info

Community is a biblically-based church committed to presenting the Gospel in creative and compelling ways.

From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you'll be made to feel at home. You will find our guest parking area to be well marked for your convenience as well as parking for new and expecting mothers. Someone from our hospitality team will gladly direct you as you enter the building. Once entering the building, our volunteers at the guest services desk will be poised and ready to give directions and try to answer any questions you may have.

As you enter the worship center, you will be made to feel right at home. Once you are seated, sit back, relax, and prepare to worship and hear the Bible message. The Praise Team, Choir and Praise Band will begin the service in a way that reminds us we are celebrating a risen King….not mourning a corpse!

As we prepare every worship service, we keep in mind that we are not merely leading a group of people in a set of songs. Our vocalists and musicians desire to lead you in true worship as you focus your heart on God. Leading songs and leading people in worship are two different things. At Community, you will not be led in a set of songs that merely fill time. You will be led in worship by people who have a heart for God.

If you have any questions before or after the service, visit our Guest Services desk located near the main entrance. You'll find it filled with people eager to help in any way they can. Soon you will find the "Community Café" located just outside the main worship center. This area will serve as a reception area for our special guests every weekend. A favorite flavor of coffee will be provided for you to enjoy either before or after each service. A friendly host and hostess from our hospitality team will be available in this area to answer any questions you might have about Community or the Bible message given in the previous service. This is also where you will find Pastor Joe and Tina immediately following the service each weekend. They are always eager to greet our church family as well as our special guests.

Whether it is your first time at Community, or you've been attending for years, you never know what to expect during our hour long service. From the moment you walk in the door, until the moment you leave, you will see that we are committed to a creative, compelling, challenging presentation of God's truth.

Our pastor, Joe Esarey, presents the Gospel in a way that speaks to today’s culture. With a unique communication style, he focuses on how to apply Christ’s teachings to everyday life, so we can each experience God’s incredible plan for our lives. The music wraps the weekend message in a relevant way. You will find that Community Bible Church isn't committed to a "style" of worship. Community is committed to true worship (John 4). You might hear a jazzed up hymn as well as the latest popular worship songs. We maintain that worship is about a person named Jesus Christ rather than "style".

There is a comfortable chair waiting for you. We hope to see you soon!

Adult Bible Fellowships-ABFs

Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) are an opportunity for Adults to learn about and discuss real life issues from a Biblical perspective. Our Adult Bible Fellowship leaders strive to teach the Bible in relevant and interesting ways. All of this is done while those in our ABFs get the chance to interact with a fresh cup of coffee in hand. Click on "More Info" to learn more about ABFs at Community.
More Info

ABFs are the key discipleship (Reaching In) tool of Community.  ABFs have a strong focus on teaching the scriptures, and learning what God wants from His people.  Romans 12:1+2 says people are, "transformed by the renewing of our minds."  This is the goal of all ABFs at Community

Scripture memory cards that go with the current message series are available in the ABF classrooms to help people be reminded of God's truth outside of church. At other times ABF leaders give out materials for further study of the Scriptures.  On occasion all of the ABFs study the same material so that those involved can relate about what they have been learning.  The different ABFs even come together off and on in one room to study a specific topic in more depth.

Our ABFs are structured so that those who come can interact with people that are at the same stage in life as they are. Being able to share common struggles and see what God has to say about them is so needed in life.  No matter where someone is in life Community has an ABF where they can feel welcomed and grow.

Our ABFs begin at 9:30am on Sunday Mornings.  Below is a list of our different groups.

Young Marrieds (Newlyweds through parents of younger children)- Taught by Mark Yoder

Homebuilders (Couples more “experienced”  in marriage or parents of teen/young adult children)- Taught by Matt Gibson

Ladies Class- Taught by Tracy Porch

Bereans- Taught by Kelly Meckes

Carpenters- Taught by Mat Kuhn

Community Groups photo

Community Groups

Community Groups are small groups of 10-12 people who meet in a casual setting in a home led by a group leader and hosted by one or more of the members. The groups meet the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month and follow a curriculum centered on Gods word. To find out more about Community Groups click on "More Info."

Colossians 2:2 gives our purpose for Community Groups.  In this verse Paul is essentially saying that believers are to be joined together in fellowship, growing in knowledge of the gospel through study, and fostering relationships around Christ and each other.

Our model for the unity displayed by Community Groups comes from John 17:21 where Jesus is praying for the relationships and unity of all believers centered on Christ.  Community Groups foster growing relationships with Christ and each other by providing an atmosphere of intimacy, honesty, and sharing with each other. The strength of the group is its members and the strength of its members is the smallness of the group.

Community Groups provide the best way for believers to meet and spend time together in a safe place to develop relationships and intimacy, share with each other, and be accountable for each other all while honoring God by our actions and words.

Breakouts photo

Breakouts

Breakouts are opportunities to dig deeply into a specific biblical or moral topic. Whenever breakouts are held people have the opportunity to choose from a list of mutiple subjects. From character to topical studies breakouts offer something for everyone! Click on "More Info" to learn more.
More Info

Our breakouts are held during the summer months, and are at different times during the school year.  They begin at 7:00pm and end around 8:00pm.

Some breakouts are done by video.  James Dobson, Beth Moore,  and Kevin Leman are a few of the speakers that we have had for our video breakouts.  These breakouts are usually held in a smaller class that creates an intimate atmosphere that is conducive for the discussion that occurs after watching the videos.

Other breakouts are lead by a member of Community that has done in depth research into the topic of study.  Many times the leaders will have visuals and handouts that will help those in the breakout better understand the subject.  There are also opportunities to ask the leader questions so that all involved can have a greater comprehension of what is being studied.

We have offered breakouts on the subjects of Apologetics, Spritual Warfare, Blended Families, The Book of Romans, Bringing up Boys, and many others!

Breakouts are a great opportunity for all that want to become a greater disciple of Christ.

Women's

The women's minstry offer many opportunities for women at any stage in life. Community desires to create a place where women can grow closer to one another through godly fellowship and bible study. To learn more about the various women's ministries click "More Info."
More Info

The women at Community Bible Church have many opportunities to enjoy fellowship together and to grow stronger in their relationships with each other as well as the Lord.  We offer MOM Connection, held the second Tuesday of every month, for moms of all ages with kids of all ages to share life experiences and how God has helped them through their journey as moms.  We also enjoy regular Bible study opportunities.  We have studied with the help of Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore as well as other teachers/leaders in our own church body.  There is a women's Adult Bible Fellowship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 also.

Some of our favorite fellowship opportunities have been the Women of Faith Event, our kitchen day camp, and ladies brunches.  This past year we did a ladies tea with a table decorating contest that was new for us and a lot of fun.  We have some very gifted and creative women!  We also enjoy a December ornament exchange with desserts and coffee.  We also have occasional dinner nights out at different restaurants in town.

It is our desire to offer a variety of options so that ladies can come together and grow together.  We pray for women who are new to Community to join us and find friends with welcoming arms.

Men's

The men's ministry at Community is made up of many different aspects. From Bible studies to Softball there a lot of opportunities for men to get connected. Click on "More Info" to find out more about Community's men's ministries.
More Info

There are a lot of activities for men at Community. Many of them are specifically geared for our men to relax and hang out.  One example is an annual four wheeler and dirt bike trip to Wayne National Forest.  The men have also had the opportunity to go skeet shooting.  We have a men's softball team that is in a pretty competitive league.  They went 13-3 last season.  Also, our men will often get together to go golfing.

Many of our men serve the church by doing the landscaping and lawn care.  Others serve as deacons and ushers in our church.  Some meet on Mondays at 5:30am to study the Bible.  We have even had a breakout called Maximized Manhood that was specifically geared to help men know how to be men of God.  God is doing an exciting work in the hearts and lives of the men at Community.

Our biggest men's event of the year is our annual men's retreat that is held at a local camp ground.  This retreat starts on a Friday night and ends Saturday afternoon.  It has a lot of time to relax and time to participate in activities together (fishing, basketball, volleyball, hiking, paint ball, corn hole, laser tag, and more).  There are chapel times that focus on teaching men about what God would have them to be.

Wherever a man is in life Community is a place where he can grow.

Senior's

The senior life ministry at Community gives many opportunities for seniors to be active and involved. Click on "More Info" on the right to find out what seniors at Community do.

The seniors gather for a luncheon mutiple times a year.  This luncheon always involves great food and fellowship.  They will at times have a fun speaker or musician at the luncheon.  On other occasions they play games.

Seniors at Community also take full day road trips to places like Amish Country, the petting zoo, and even the Polaris Mall in Columbus.  These trips are purposefully kept low in price, and the cost covers transportation and activities.  Our church bus stops at great restaurants like the Der Dutchman where they can purchase whatever food they want.

The Adult Bible Fellowship that is held for our Seniors is one of the most exciting and interactive ABFs around.  Many have said how much they enjoy the teaching and interaction of the class.

The senior ministry at Community is a great place to grow and fellowship.

Prayer

Prayer Connection is a ministry of believers who gather to be ministered to by God, through prayer. It is one of the most intimate times you can have in fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. To learn about meeting times and other details about this ministry click the "More Info" tab to the right.
More Info

This ministry meets the first Saturday of every month at 9:00a.m. for the purpose of reaching up to God, intercessory prayer for the church and fellow believers, and for personal prayer with other faith filled prayer partners.

This ministry also gives members the opportunity to serve daily by having a monthly prayer request list.  We do this because our belief is that prayer is not a once a month ministry but a never ceasing walk with God.

We also have prayer teams that meet every Sunday morning during our 10:30a.m. worship service.  This group asks God to work in the lives and hearts of all who are in the service.

Prayer is essential to having a truly successful ministry.  Jesus said, "You have not, because you ask not."  Our goal is to never miss out on anything God has in store for us because of a lack of prayer.  God has done and will do great things through prayer at Community.

Media

Community's media ministry is an exciting and fun ministry that gets the message of Christ out through many different broadcast technologies. From this website to audio and video production Community is expanding its growth in the technological marketplace. Click on "More Info" to see a video creation of this ministry, and to learn more about it.
More Info

The media ministry is broken down into three main categories: Pre-Production, Live Production, and Post-Production.  Each of these areas are dependant on the other.  This ministry is truly a team effort.

Pre-Production is composed of our graphic, audio, and video production people.  Pre-Production creates the graphics and videos that are used during our Worship Service and put on our website.  Sometimes they supplement the message and worship.  Other times they are used to advertise upcoming events or promote different ministries.

To view a sample of one of our videos click here.

Live Production serves to create the best environment possible for worship and response to God's message.  This can be one of the hardest areas of the ministry to serve as it requires great focus of all those involved.  It can also be a very rewarding place to serve knowing that it was used to bring God's truth to His people.

Post-Production takes the content from the Pre-Production and Live Production teams and puts it together in its final form.  CD and DVD albums of our message series are created and made available at our church product table.  Also, our messages are published on the web.

Click here to go to our media page that has a large number of our messages available to listen to or watch.  You can also subscribe to our podcast.

Anyone that is interested in being involved in the media ministry can contact the media team leader, Matt Gibson, at mgibson@discovercommunity.org.
