Meet the Starkeys

You can read more about the Starkeys on their blog: https://tohaitiwego.com
Jim and April Starkey have been serving here at Community Bible for 8+ years. Jim is involved in a men’s leadership group, helps with the sound ministry and children’s ministry. He is also very involved as a leader in their church’s youth group. He has a special handshake he does with each kid in the youth group and doesn’t mind at all making a fool out of himself to connect with the kids and make them laugh. He’s a big Ohio State Buckeye football fan and loves to read. April helps lead worship at their church and is one of the Bible teachers for the children’s program. Her passion is music and singing. She is currently learning how to play guitar. She loves the mountains, nature, reading, blogging and board games. Jim and April are high school sweethearts and have been married for 13 years. They have 3 boys: Isaac, 8; Micaiah, 5; and Ezekiel, 1. April is currently homeschooling Isaac and Micaiah. They have both been to Haiti for short-term trips and are eager to return and serve full-time, making Him known and serving in whatever way is needed.

Their Ministry

The Starkeys have been appointed as missionaries with Reciprocal Ministries International or RMI. RMI’s mission is to transform lives through church to church partnerships. They facilitate and are the bridge to make these successful cross-cultural partnerships work. They work hand in hand with national churches to enable them and resource them for life transformation. This takes place through evangelism, discipleship, education, community development and social compassion.

Missionary life is multi-faceted so things will change on a daily basis depending on the need. However, a majority of what Jim will be doing is taking teams out to the villages, translating, and vehicle & depot maintenance. April will possibly be working with RMI’s Hope for Kidz program that feeds over 6,000 children in various schools and sponsors several hundred as well. She may also be helping with coordinating the teams that come and going out with the teams from time to time.

What They Need

The Starkeys are in the process of raising their initial support as well as recruiting monthly supporters. You can visit Reciprocal Ministries International to give towards their initial costs or set up a recurring gift. They also would appreciate prayer for their ministry.
